Sandalwood in Indian Culture is the Pivotal product which is used in all kinds of Rituals , Being the 2nd most Expensive wood in the globe it has many benefits and uses .The heartwood of the tree is treasured for its aroma and is one of the finest natural materials for carving. Sandalwood oil is used in perfumes, cosmetics, aromatherapy and pharmaceuticals. The tree grows, the essential oil originates in the roots and heartwood, which requires at least 15 to 20 years to acc , it growns fully by 50 -60 years. The core of dark heartwood gradually develops, which is covered by outer sapwood. The sandalwood tree is never felled, but uprooted in the rainy season, when the roots are richer in the precious essential oil. Vietnam and New Caledonia have well controlled plantations of genuine Sandalwood but the Mysore Sandalwood Oil has High Santalol content compared to these Species. Sandalwood Essential Oil , best known in the west as a sweet, warm, rich and woody essential oil used as is for a body fragrance, and as an ingredient in fragrant products such as incense, perfumes, aftershaves and other cosmetics. Unlike , the story of Sandalwood, the divine essence, goes much further. Sandalwood ( Santalum Album ) has been a part of the religious and spiritual traditions of India since prehistory and has been effectively used in traditional medicine for thousands of years.
